At its meeting in late November, the IACAT Board of Directors approved a proposal by its previously appointed Journal Committee to prepare a proposal for the development of the Journal of Computerized Adaptive Testing (JCAT). JCAT will be implemented as an electronic journal that will be distributed using PDF files at no cost. It will publish high-quality peer-reviewed CAT research. We expect to begin receiving manuscripts for review in Spring 2012 with publication beginning in late spring. Each article will be published as it is completed, and IACAT members will be informed on publication of each article. We have two requests at this time: 1. We are now accepting nominations for the Editor of JCAT. You may nominate a colleague or yourself. We are seeking a visible and experienced CAT researcher, preferably with experience as an Editor or Associate Editor of a research journal. Please send your nominations to me at djweiss@umn.edu by Monday, January 16th. Nominations will be reviewed by the Publications Committee and its recommendations will be forwarded to the IACAT Board for its action. 2. Since we expect to begin reviewing manuscripts in a few months, if you have manuscripts that you would like to submit you should begin to prepare them. Manuscripts will be accepted for review as PDF files. They can be prepared in APA style, with two exceptions: (1) they can be single-spaced, and (2) tables and figures may be inserted into the text, complete with titles, after their first mention. Further details on manuscript submission will be forthcoming. We would appreciate your recommendations for JCAT's Editor and look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please let me know. Dave Weiss, Chair IACAT Publications Committee
